Installer Qualifications: A qualified firm that is approved, authorized, or licensed by roofing <br />system manufacturer to install manufacturer's product and that is eligible to receive <br />manufacturer's warranty. <br />B. Source Limitations. Obtain components for membrane roofing system from same manufacturer <br />as roofing membrane <br />12 PROJECT CONDITIONS <br />A. Weather Limitations: Proceed with installation only when existing and forecasted weather <br />conditions permit roofing system to be installed according to manufacturer's written <br />instructions and warranty requirements. <br />13 WARRANTY <br />A. Special Warranty: Manufacturer's standard form, without monetary limitation, in which <br />manufacturer agrees to repair or replace components of membrane roofing system that fall in <br />materials or workmanship within specified warranty period. Failure includes roof leaks. <br />1. Warranty Period: 25 years for 50-mil installation, 15 years for 50-mll installation. Installing <br />contractor shall be responsible for the first 2 years for their workmanship of the warranty <br />from date of Substantial Completion. <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br />2.1 EPDM ROOFING MEMBRANE <br />A. All insulation <br />or separators to be approved by system manufacturer. <br />1. Thickness: S0 mils, nominal (Alternate for 50 Mils). <br />2. Exposed Face Color: Light Gray <br />22 AUXILIARY MATERIALS <br />A. General: Auxiliary materials recommended by roofing system manufacturer for intended use <br />and compatible with membrane roofing. <br />23 ROOF INSULATION <br />A. Polyisocyanurate Board Insulation: ASTM C 128S, Type II, felt or glass -fiber mat facer on <br />both major surfaces. <br />B. Provide preformed saddles, crickets, tapered edge strips, and other insulation shapes <br />where indicated for sloping to drain. Fabricate to slopes indicated. <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.1 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL <br />A. Installer: Must be certified by membrane manufacturer, and have experience in installing <br />similar type membrane systems. In the event of an installer with minimal experience. IB will <br />offer jobsite technical support. Contractor will be responsible for jobsite coordination <br />with builder and other trades as well as jobsite cleanliness. All debris must be removed <br />upon completion of work. <br />B. Parapet Scuppers: Install scuppers where indicated through parapet. Continuously support <br />scupper, set to correct elevation, and seal flanges to interior wall face, over cants or <br />tapered edge strips, and under roofing membrane. <br />32 ROOF FLASHING INSTALLATION <br />A. General: Install sheet metal roof flashing and trim to comply with performance requirements <br />and SMACNA's 'Architectural Sheet Metal Manual.' Provide concealed fasteners where <br />possible, set units true to line, and level as indicated. Install work with laps, joints, and <br />seams that will be permanently watertight. <br />B. Copings: Anchor to resist uplift and outward forces according to recommendations in FMG <br />Loss Prevention Data Sheet i-4S. <br />1. Interlock exterior bottom edge of coping with continuous cleats anchored to substrate <br />at 16-loch (400-mm) centers. <br />2. Anchor Interior leg of coping with screw fasteners and washers at IS -inch (450-mm) <br />centers. <br />C. Counterflashing: Coordinate installation of counterflashing with installation of base flashing. <br />Insert count.erflashing in reglets or receivers and fit tightly to base flashing. Secure in a <br />waterproof manner. Extend counterflashing 4 inches (100 mm) over base flashing. Lap <br />counterflashing joints a minimum of 4 inches (100 mm) and bed with elastomeric or butyl <br />sealant. <br />D. Roof -Penetration Flashing: Coordinate installation of roof -penetration flashing with <br />installation of roofing and other items penetrating roof. Install flashing as follows: <br />i. Turn lead flashing down inside vent piping, being careful not to block vent piping with <br />flashing. <br />2.
