Please provide
the additional information requested below with a revision so that approval can be given for
this project. No fees have been assessed at this time and will be assessed once approval is
given.
1. There is no specific type or group for this hangar identified on the plans. Reference has been
made that this should be a Group III hangar per an email received by the City on November
16, 2010. The language concerning static grounding on page I of the plans refers to language
for a Group I or Group 11 hangar. Correct reference to Group III requirements for static
grounding (NFPA 409 — 8.5) should be made if this is a Group III hangar.
2. There is no diagram of the aircraft apron in front of the building, so there can be no
determination that the ground slope away from the building meets the required slope. The
apron is required to slope away from the level of the hangar floor at a grade of .5% or (1:200)
for the first 50 feet (NFPA 409 - 8.1.4). If a site plan or survey shows such, there should be
reference to that included in the plans or attached to the plans submitted so that this condition
is met ' &
3. On Page there are no notations stating the classification and/or type of piping for the
plumbing of the floor drain/water oil separator being used, a schematic of how the piping is to
be run, any hydraulic calculations, etc ... as stated in Section 5.11.2 of NFPA 409 (referenced
from 8.1.5. 1) must be included. The slope of the floor (should be .5% minimum) is not
identified on the plans.
4. Additional exits (personnel doors) are required to be installed every 150 linear feet on the
exterior walls (NFPA 409 — 8.8.1 & NFPA 101 — 42.6.1.2). Field location can be determined
to ensure there is no structural interference from supporting members of the building.
Reference to this field location of doors or actual locations need to be identified on the
submitted plans.
5. There is no reference to fire extinguisher placement within the building. Per NFPA 409 this is
classified as an extra (high) hazard. Extinguisher placement shall be every 50 feet with a
minimum rating of 4A-80B (NFPA 10). Fire extinguishers can be field located to insure
mounting on suitable structure (bracing, purlins or columns, not metal skin) capable of
supporting their weight. Signage should be provided to mark locations.
v 1, V& It'
&# ter
r
v
