<br />DUCT DETECTORS/SENSORS SHOULD BE INSTALLED IN A LOCATION OF
<br />RELATIVELY NON -TURBULENT AIR FLOW AND WITHIN THE INTENDED OPERATING
<br />VELOCITY RANGE OF 300-4000 FEET -PER -MINUTE (91 TO 1220 M/MIN.)
<br />SIMPLEX RECOMMENDS MEASUREMENTS OF AIR FLOW AND EXAMINATION OF
<br />ENGINEERING SPECIFICATIONS THAT DEFINE EXPECTED DUCT AIR VELOCITIES
<br />UNDER ALL CONDITIONS. THIS IS DONE TO DETERMINE IF A LOCATION IS
<br />SUITABLE FOR DUCT DETECTOR/SENSOR OPERATION,
<br />AN ALNOR INSTRUMENT CO. (CHICAGO) MODEL 6000P VELOMETER OR
<br />EQUIVALENT (NOT SUPPLIED) MAY BE USED TO CHECK THE DUCT AIR VELOCITY.
<br />INSTALLATION GUIDELINES
<br />1. IT IS RECOMMENDED TO LOCATE DETECTORS/SENSORS A MINIMUM OF SIX
<br />DUCT WIDTHS DOWNSTREAM FROM BENDS OR INLETS. SUCH LOCATIONS ENSURE
<br />THAT AIR FLOW IS NON -TURBULENT AND THAT SMOKE IS PROPERLY MIXED
<br />WITH AIR IN THE DUCT FOR MAXIMUM DETECTOR/SENSOR EFFICIENCY.
