SECTION 0501 STRUCTURAL FRAMING AND MISC. FABRICATION (CONT) <br />2.01 FABRICATION: <br />A. All structural steel shall be manufactured in accordance with <br />AISC standards. <br />B. Make bolt holes 1/16th inch larger than nominal bolt <br />diameter. All bolts shall have threads excluded from shear <br />plane. <br />C. Make fillet welds 1/4 inch minimum. Make butt weld full <br />penetration. <br />D. All welding shall comply with AWS D1.1 Structural Welding <br />Code. <br />2.02 ERECTION: <br />A. Erect structural steel framing plumb, level and properly <br />aligned in accordance with building lines and elevation on <br />Drawings and reference standards. <br />B. Field cutting and modifications of structural framing will <br />not be allowed unless specifically approved by Architect. <br />C. Provide necessary bracing and shoring during erection to <br />ensure safety of personnel and structure. Allow superimposed <br />construction loads only after erection is complete. <br />D. Apply touch-up primer to field welds, bolted connections, <br />and areas where shop primer has been damaged. <br />3.00 STEEL JOISTS: (Owner Furnished) <br />3.01 MATERIALS: <br />A. Steel Joists Designed in accordance with SJI <br />Standards, LH or K-Series, as noted on <br />Sheet S-3,50,000 PSI Steel, Camber Joists <br />to accommodate dead load deflection. <br />B. Welding Materials As recommended by AWS. <br />3.02 ERECTION: <br />A. Coordinate and verify proper placement of required anchors <br />and accessories. <br />B. Erect in accordance with AISC and SJI Standard Specifications <br />C. Field weld joists to steel beams, bearing plates or angles <br />after alignment and positioning. Weld each side with 1/8th <br />inch fillet weld one inch long minimum. <br />D. Provide temporary bracing, as required, to ensure safety <br />during erection of joists. <br />4.00 METAL DECK: (Owner Furnished) <br />4.01 MATERIALS: <br />A. Roof Decking ASTM A446, Grade C, 33,000 PSI 1.5" Type <br />"B" wide rib, 22 gage, galvanized, coating <br />conforming to ASTM A525-660. <br />B. Fasteners TEK #12 - 1 1/4" at supports, 3/4' at side <br />caps self tapping screws. <br />C. Metal decking must be stored off the ground with one end <br />elevated to provide drainage and shall be protected from the <br />weather with a water proof covering that is ventilated to <br />avoid condensation. <br />SECTION 0501 STRUCTURAL FRAMING AND MISC. FABRICATION (CONT) <br />4.02 ERECTION: <br />A. Install in accordance with SDI requirements and manufacturers <br />printed instructions. <br />B. Lap decking sheets at supports only, properly nested. <br />C. Provide temporary shoring, as required, during application <br />of dead loads to maintain decking level to avoid damage. <br />Do not leave placed sheets unattached at the end of the day. <br />D. Secure decking to support members with self -drilling, <br />self -tapping screws at each rib and at each side lap. Align <br />all screws. Weld deck to perimeter angles with 5/8" <br />diameter puddle weld at 12" o.c. <br />E. DO NOT install any dull or oxidized metal decking. Contact <br />the Architect for instructions. <br />5.00 METAL FABRICATION: <br />5.01 SCOPE OF WORK <br />A. Work included but not limited to: <br />1. Anchor Bolts <br />2. Primer Rust inhibitive type compatible to <br />finish coat. <br />5.03 FABRICATION: <br />A. Arc weld all connections unless indicated otherwise. <br />B. Insofar. as practicable, shop fabricate all items complete <br />and ready for installation. <br />C. Punch or drill holes required for connections. Burned holes <br />are not permitted. <br />6.00 TESTING AND INSPECTION: <br />A. The contractor shall be responsible for furnishing any special <br />inspections specifically required by Building Codes and local <br />Authorities. If none are required the minimum requirements <br />for this section shall consist of inspections and reports on <br />all field welded and bolted connections. <br />B. Testing and inspections shall be performed by on independent <br />organization from the Contractor and signed by a Registered <br />Professional Engineer. <br />C.
