L. poynter Construction, Inc. <br /> <br />We believe that the cost estimates for a 12 inch water line <br />are excessive. The unit cost for ,12" DR-1S pipe installed <br />is $14.25. The City is currently laying the same size and <br />type of pipe on Fort King at a cost ,of $10.50 per linear <br />foot. Wal-Mart installed the same 12 inch pipe on Pretty <br />Pond in May, 1992 at a unit cost of $10.50 per linear foot. <br />Based on these two recent experiences, we believe that <br />$10.50 per linear foot is a reasonable cost. <br /> <br />Schedule B for a 12 inch line should also be amended to <br />eliminate item 8 (cut and patch existing drive) because the <br />City has already provided a 20 inch sleeve under that <br />driveway which can be used for a 12 inch water line. <br /> <br />With the above changes the estimated costs' to construct a 12 <br />inch line on the north side of the bypass'is: <br /> <br />1260 LF of 12" DR-1S @ $10.50 <br />Various fittings <br />120 LF of 8" @ $8.50 <br /> <br />$13,230 <br />4,075 <br />1, 020 <br />$18,325 <br /> <br />This estimate does not include the cost of boring under the <br />roadway which '\Ali11 be done by the City. You will be <br />responsible for field-locating the point-af-crossing. <br /> <br />The estimated costs to extend an 8 inch water line to your <br />site on the south side of the Bypass is $12,340. <br /> <br />Based on these estimates, the City will reimburse you for <br />the excess costs attributable to a larger line (12 inch) in <br />a different alignment (north side of Bypass) for the City's <br />advantaqe. Our estimate of reimbursement is $5,985. Actual <br />
