-~-----..

.. :- . ~~

C. To hinder rust o(the spray booth and to facilitate cleaning of overspray, one of the
SCYc:rIlJ comm~illl Col!tings available should be applied to areas where overspray
will be deposited. ,some are iJlastic coatings which may be bnuhed or sprayed and
later stripped off in sheets; some are a semi-permanent teflon coating. Common
gn:l1SC and pllpcr is also used but is not recommended as it presents a tire hazard.

D. Keep the air velociry through the booth constant. If the paint formula or spraying
operation is changed from that for which the booth was originally pU~ased. more
or less air mOVement may be present than even the law requires. Also, wit!l more
man :>ne booth insralled, room air currents may be troublesome. The result, in
addition to the heating and air conditioning problems, is that fast-moving air currents
across tbe face opening of the booths often result in the starving of one booth to the:
benefit of an adjacent booth with a better draft and the pulling of paint overspray
from the starved booth out into the general room area.

E. To keep specks of din, dust and lint off the surface being painted:

1. Wear starched coveralls during ~nlying opcnltions.

2. Strain spray material using a metal mesh tilter, not a cheesecloth or similar
strainer.

3. Keep area surrounding booth. as well as booth itself clean.

4. Keep spray equipment clean..

MAINffiNANCE

The frequency of many of the following maintenance checks depends upon the amount and kind of
materials being sprayed. Under all circumstances, however, these checks should be made at reguiar
intervals to reduce fire hazards, to mainlain rhe efficiency of the booth. to prevent freshly painted objects
from becommg blemished and to hinder nut of the booth.

I. On dry type paint spray booths with arrestor exltaust:

A. Daily or when overspl1lY accumu!ate3 - remove the ovcrsp~y and coating from the
booth interior, operator's floor area, baffles. fan and exhaust piping. Use a non-
fClTOlU, non-sparlding scraper to eliminate any possibilities of igniting combustible
:natcriaL Dc not leave piles of paint sweeping3 in the booth.

B. When ovenpray accumulates - remove exhaust 'unit blade and clean.

C. Check belt tension on exhaust unit periodically. Bearings in fan and motor may wear
unnecessarily when belts are 100 tight.

COMPLIANCE TO APPLICABLE CODES:

This Spray Booth is desilmed to be in strict accordance with the National Fire Protection Association's
Standards Number 33,";d NFPA's }lational Electnc Code. This'Spray Booth also meets or exceeds the
requirements of OSHA.
