UL, ULC, CSFM Listed

Description

The D343 Air Duct Smoke Detector Housing is designed to
mount to the ducts of HVAC systems to monitor the presence
of smoke in the conditioned air. It is designed to work with the
Radionics D7024 24 VAC Fire Alarm Control/Communicator
with the D7039 Multiplexer Expansion Module installed.
The efficient housing design samples the air passing through
a duct and allows the detection of a potentially hazardous
condition. When smoke is detected, the detector sends an
alarm signal to the control panel and/or HVAC control
equipment which will initiate the necessary action to control
air handling systems.

Application

The D343 Air Duct Smoke Detector Housing is designed to
operate on a Multiplex Bus loop.
The D343 Air Duct Smoke Detector Housing is designed to be
used in air handling systems with ducts between 1 foot (30.5
em) and 10 ft. (3.05 m) wide having air velocities between 300
and 4000 ft. per minute (1.52 to 20.3 m/s).
System testing may be accomplished by placing an extemal
magnet on the detector housing or by switching a signal from
a remote test station.(Requires an extemal 24 V supply).
The system may be reset by pushing rest at the panel, if using
smoke power, or by power down, if using a listed external
supply.

,~~" .i!'~ ~>--:'"'''

"."...,':"'~,: .':':;;;;''i''7''"',%''!!!'"Y..:'lffllillf

II

o

00

0.

0343 Air Duct Smoke Detector Housing

Installation

A mounting template, two #10-24 jack nuts, two #10-24 x 1 in.
(2.54 em) machine screws, two foam gaskets and two tube
damps are provided in the hardware package. The mounting
template is affixed to the duct at the desired place and holes
are drilled (or punched) and cleaned. The Sampling and
Exhaust tubes are inserted into the duct with the Sampling
Tube facing into the airflow and the Exhaust Tube downwind
from the Sampling Tube.
Sample tubes should extend across the width of the duct.
Radionics offers sample tubes in three different sizes which
may be combined or cut to make other lengths. Sample tubes
over 3 ft. (91.4 em) must be supported at the end opposite the
duct detector. Sample tubes are provided with an end plug
which must be installed in the open end.
This detector housing and associated detector head should
be installed in accordance with NFPA 9OA: Standard for the
Installation d Air Conditioning and Ventilating Systems, NFPA
72: National Fire Alann Code", NFPA 101: Life Safety Code",
any applicable local and state codes and your local Authority
Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).

$ radionics

A member of the
Bosch Group
