Subsidence Investigation
Pittman Residence - Zephyrhills, Florida

son Project Number: 3017839

4.0 CONCLUSIONS

It is SDU's professional opinion that sinkhole activity as defined by ~627.706 Florida Statutes
cannot be ruled out at the Pittman residence within reasonable probability. The depression that is
receiving soil under the concrete slab outside the back door cannot be ruled out as being caused
by sinkhole activity. The depression is likely the result of a "chimney sink".

No buried storm water pipes or sewer pipes that would provide an avenue for the sand to migrate
away from the area were identified in the area. There was also no evidence that the sand that was
formerly in the depression had been removed from the hole by burrowing animals or broken
sprinkler lines.

The observed damage on the exterior and interior of the residence is consistent with either the
direct result or the collateral effect of differential movement of the foundation.

SDU recommends that the sinkhole conditions be remediated using grout injection to increase
the density of the soils and cap the limestone. The estimated cost of remediation is approximately
$36,700. SDU also recommends that the remediation program be monitored in order to verify
that it is completed in accordance with our recommendations.

4-1
