Protect metal, glass, plastic and unpainted surfaces within <br />wind-borne range of bitumen application. Protect neighboring <br />work, properties, cars and person from spills and wind-borne <br />bitumen surfacing. <br />4.00 INSTALLATION <br />A. Apply buildup roofing in <br />strict accordance with manufacturers <br />printed instructions. <br />B. Roofing materials shall <br />be thoroughly dry when applied and <br />shall be closed in at end <br />of each day. <br />C. Application of roofing system <br />in phases is not acceptable. <br />D. ROOF MEMBRANE SYSTEM: <br />1. Description: <br />Four (4) hot mopped plies, plus <br />smooth surfacing over accepted roof <br />insulation. <br />2. Plies: <br />Four shingled plies, lapped 27 - 1/2 <br />using starter sheets. <br />3. Type of Felt <br />Fiberglass. <br />4. Interply bitument <br />Type II or III asphalt. <br />5. Smooth Surfacing: <br />Flood coat of Bitumen over top felt <br />layer plus fibrated aluminum roof <br />coating. <br />E. Application Temperatures <br />of Asphalts: <br />1. Type II <br />350 to 415 degrees F. <br />2. Type III <br />365 to 435 degrees F. <br />F. Roofing Ply Application: <br />1. Apply uniform, solid bitumen mopping at the rate of 23 <br />to 27 lbs./100 sq. ft. Apply bitumen the full width of <br />the sheet, and sufficiently hot to obtain complete <br />embedment of ply to ply. <br />2. Roll felt into hot bitumen. Extend each ply of roofing <br />felts to the top of the parapet wall. <br />3. Broom in promptly to eliminate voids and obtain total <br />embedment. <br />4. Apply layer of roofing cement to top layer of wall felts <br />and cover with 90 lb. roll roofing. Lap joints in <br />direction of water flow. <br />G. Smooth Surfacing: <br />1. Apply Flood coat of Bitumen over last felt uniformly at <br />the rate of 25 lbs./100 sq. foot. <br />2. Once dry, and properly cured apply Fibrated Aluminum <br />coating uniformly at the rate of 2 gals./100 sq. ft. <br />Coating must be thoroughly mixed to a smooth consistency <br />and uniform silver color. <br />3. Coatings shall be installed in strict accordance with <br />manufacturer's printed instructions. <br />H. Walkway Pad Application; Provide walkway pads at perimeter <br />of HVAC rooftop units and roof hatch. Set walkway pads in <br />hot, Type III asphalt at the rate of 20 lbs. per square. <br />Provide 6 inch space at joints for proper drainage. Pads <br />are to be within 2 inches of HVAC units. (See drawings) <br />I. Provide crickets at high end of all roof curbs for HVAC, <br />roof hatches and where shown on drawings. <br />SECTION 0704 EXTERIOR INSULATION AND FINISH SYSTEM (EIFS) <br />1.00 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS: Sto Industries <br />Atlanta, Ga. <br />Tom Rosenberger or Mary Elzey 1-800- <br />221-2397 <br />or Approved Equal <br />2.00 MATERIALS: <br />A. Aggregate <br />3.00 EXECUTION: <br />A 100 % copolymer emulsion adhesive <br />that is waterproof and vapor permeable. <br />Aged expanded polystrene 1PCF, minimum <br />1"thick,conforming to FS HH-1524C,typel <br />Open weave woven glass fiber mesh to be <br />alkaline resistant coated at least 20 <br />grams per sq. yard. <br />A 80% acrylic 20% portland premixed <br />polymer -based grout coat. <br />Redi-mixed all acrylic based wall <br />coating having integral color and <br />aggregate. Sto color Maxicryl #21609 <br />see drawings for locations. <br />Clean and potable. <br />Stolit K 1. <br />A. All installations of STO materials shall be performed by and/or <br />supervised by STO trained applicators. <br />B. The finish system shall be applied in accordance with STO <br />specifications. <br />C. The surface to receive the STO Full Thermal System shall be <br />structurally sound, clean, dry, and uniform. <br />D. Ambient temperature shall be 40 degrees F. or higher <br />during installation and for at least 24 hours thereafter. <br />E. Avoid application in direct sunlight. <br />F. Sto Dipersion Adhesive to be applied in ribbons using a 3/16" <br />trowel, and running horizontal with the building walls. <br />G. Maintain surface flatness with maximum variation of 1/8" <br />within 10 feet. <br />H. No exposed or partially exposed fabric will be acceptable. <br />,,� 5.q-4. Y4 <br />I. Finish shall be applied in a continuous application, always <br />working to a wet edge. Finish shall be uniform, smooth <br />Stolit K 1, sand -type texture. <br />J. Any and all mixing of Sto materials to be done with clean, rust <br />free, high-speed mixer. Small amounts of water may be <br />added to the finish, per specification, to aid workability. <br />K. The Sto Full Thermal System is to be completely installed and <br />cured before soffit panels are scheduled for installation. <br />Soffit panels shall not be installed prior to the installation <br />of the Sto Full Thermal System. Should this occur, the Sto <br />System installer will be responsible for cleaning all soffit <br />panels of any debris, paint, etc. <br />L. Where indicated on the drawings install BTS-B and reinforced <br />finish coats directly on the smooth face concrete block. <br />M. Color of finish applied to full thermal system shall be Sto color <br />Maxicryl #21609. Color of finish applied directly to concrete <br />block, when required, shall be Sto color Maxicryl #21609. <br />4.00 WARRANTY <br />A. Contractor shall provide owner with the Sto 5 year <br />Systems warranty. <br />SECTION 0705 SEALANTS <br />1.00 GENERAL: <br />A. Install sealants between all dissimilar materials as well as <br />all expansion, construction and saw cut joints. <br />2.00 MATERIAL: <br />A. Exterior <br />1. Masonry Control Joints: <br />Paintable Polyurethane base, multicomponent, <br />chemical curing: type II non -sagging conforming to FS TT- <br />S227E with 25% joint movement capability. <br />2. Aluminum Framing System: <br />Silicone base, one component, chemical curing conforming to <br />FS TT-S1543A with 25% joint movement capability color to <br />match adjacent surface. <br />3. Expansion and Control Joints in Paving: <br />Polyurethane based, multi component, self -leveling, <br />chemically curing, type M, grade P conforming to <br />FS TT-S-00227E. Color to closely match pavement color. <br />B. Interior: Paintable acrylic base, one component, solvent curing <br />non -staining, non -bleeding, non -sagging, conforming to FS TT-S- <br />230 Type II with 7.5% joint movement capability. <br />C. Primer: Non -staining type recommended by caulking <br />manufacturer to suit application. <br />D. Joint Cleaner: Noncorrosive type recommended by caulking <br />manufacturer to suit application. <br />E. Joint Filler: Round, open cell polyethylene form rod <br />oversized 25%-50%. <br />3.00 INSTALLATION: <br />A. Clean and prepare joints in accordance with manufacturers <br />recommendations. Remove loose material and other foreign <br />matter that might impair adhesions of caulking. <br />B. Ensure that joint forming materials are compatible with <br />caulking. <br />C. Comply strictly with manufacturers printed instructions. <br />D.
