Small rock mixes are not allowed for slabs or other
wearing surfaces.

5. COVER:

Unless otherwise shown on the drawings the minimum concrete
cover for reinforcing shall be as follows:

a. Footings: 3"
b. Columns and pedestals: 1 1/2" for #5 and smaller.
2 " for others.
c. Structural slabs exposed to weather: 1 1/2" top and 3/4"
bottom.
d. Slab-on-grade: 1 1/2" from top of slab.
e. Beams: 1 1/2" for 3% and smaller and 2" for others,

6. SPLICES, HOOKS AND CORNERS:

Unless otherwise shown on drawings:

a. Reinforcing Steel: 40 bar diameters.

Provide standard hooks at the ends of all column and filled
cell reinforcing. Provide corner bars for all bars at all
corners.

7. FORMS:

Construct formwork for concrete with plywood or other
acceptable panel type materials to provide continuous,
straight smooth surfaces. Coat forms with a commercial
formulation coating compound that will not bond, stain, or
adversely affect concrete surfaces or impair subsequent
treatments. Design land erect formwork to support all loads.
Thoroughly clean and adjust all forms just prior to concrete
placement. Use factory prefabricated snap off or removable
ties.

o. EXECUTION:

a. Support reinforcement on metal bolsters. Masonry may not
be used for supports.
b. Formwork supporting concrete beams shall be left in place
for at least 14 days and until the concrete has reached
it's design strength.
c. Consolidate concrete with mechanical vibrat-ing equipment.
d. All slab surfaces are to be coated with liquid cure and
seal compound unless this would affect finishes to be
applied later. In the case of the latter wet cure the
slab.
